Associate membership in FMEA provides you and your company opportunities to directly connect with Florida’s 33 municipal electric utilities and their employees.

Florida’s 33 public power utilities serve approximately 1.5 million customers (more than 3 million Floridians) or 14% of the state’s population. If your company does or would like to do business with Florida’s public power utilities, associate membership in FMEA provides you opportunities to foster relationships and connect with the right people. You and your company can join FMEA as an Associate Member for the low fee of only $1,200 a year (offering a 50% discount for qualifying small businesses).     Associate Members receive FMEA’s quarterly RELAY magazine, Florida’s only electric utility magazine and one of the largest state power trade magazines in the U.S. with a circulation of more than 2,800. Stay apprised with in-depth news and highlights covering Florida’s public power communities, employees, projects and events.  Associate Members are also given opportunities to contribute stories about their areas of expertise to Florida’s utility professionals and participate in feature articles.

FMEA Events

  • FMEA Annual Conference
    More than 300 people, including utility directors, general managers and city leaders from Florida’s municipal utility industry attend this three-day event held every summer. The conference includes expert speakers and panels, workshops and several networking opportunities.
  • FMEA Energy Connections Conference & Trade Show
    The Energy Connections Conference and Trade Show brings together professionals from the energy industry to hear top-notch technical speakers on pertinent innovative topics and the latest in utility products and services. In addition, the conference incorporates a trade show that highlights FMEA Associate Members and vendor companies showcasing valuable industry products and services related to all aspects of the utility industry. The convenient two-day format allows utility staff to keep travel costs low, while receiving high-value training and view the latest products and services.
  • The Florida Lineman Competition
    The Florida Lineman Competition is a competitive event in which utility line workers demonstrate their skills, knowledge, and teamwork regarding the dangerous profession of electric line work in a safe and educational environment. Associate Members receive sponsorship opportunities and vendor discounts. The Competition features around-the-competition-site exhibiting space for vendors wanting to showcase their products and services to Florida’s T&D line worker and utility safety community.
  • FMEA Hurricane & Storm Preparedness Forum
    During the forum, Florida municipal electric utility employees share information and tips on how to prepare for and recover from a hurricane or severe storm in the state. Held in advance of the hurricane season, the forum includes discussions on topics such as mutual aid and logistics planning, FEMA documentation, utility preparedness and an upcoming storm season outlook. 
  • Webinar & Roundtables
    FMEA offers webinars and training opportunities that provide high-quality education and training. Participants gain insight and knowledge to help them in their careers and assist in building strong public power communities. FMEA Associate Members are invited to submit presentations that will provide valuable, informative content. As a presenter, you will be part of this educational initiative for electric utility professionals.
