FMEA’s Electric Bill Comparison for December 2022 shows the average bills of public power utilities across Florida are $0.52 more than the average bills for investor-owned utilities per 1,000 kWh.

Overall, out of fifteen ranked categories, the City of Quincy reported the lowest bills in eight categories, the City of Williston in five categories, New Smyrna Beach Utilities in one category and the City of Winter Park Electric Utility in one category.

For residential bills, out of three categories, the City of Williston reported the lowest rates in all three categories.

For commercial bills, out of eight ranked categories, the City of Quincy reported the lowest bills in four categories, the City of Williston in two categories, and New Smyrna Beach Utilities and the City of Winter Park Electric Utility each reported the lowest rates in one category.

In the industrial sector, out of four ranked categories, the City of Quincy reported the lowest bills in all four categories.

The FMEA Electric Bill Comparison provides a fair comparison of customer bills served by different utilities. The report includes utility rates, average franchise fees of six percent, and local payments in lieu of taxes.
