FMEA Releases Monthly Electric Bill Comparison for June 2020

FMEA Bill CompFMEA’s Electric Bill Comparison for June 2020 shows the average bills of public power utilities across Florida are $15.48 less than the average bills for investor-owned utilities per 1,000 kWh.

Overall, out of fifteen ranked categories; the Utilities Commission of New Smyrna Beach reported the lowest bills in five categories. Lakeland Electric and the City of Mount Dora both reported the lowest bills in four categories and Tampa Electric Company in two categories.

For residential bills, out of three categories; the Utilities Commission of New Smyrna Beach reported the lowest bills in two categories and Tampa Electric Company in one.

For commercial bills, out of eight ranked categories the Utilities Commission of New Smyrna Beach and Lakeland Electric reported the lowest bills and the City of Mount Dora reported the lowest in one category.  

In the industrial sector, out of four ranked categories; the City of Mount Dora reported the lowest bills in two categories while Lakeland Electric and Tampa Electric Company reported the lowest in one each.

The FMEA Electric Bill Comparison provides a fair comparison of customer bills served by different utilities. The report includes utility rates, average franchise fees of 6 percent, and local payments in lieu of taxes.
