FPUA 50When the storms come and the lights go out, utility crews get to work. Linemen work in all types of weather to ensure power is reliably and safely delivered to electric utility customers. You have the unique opportunity to watch Journeymen and Apprentice linemen showcase their skills as they compete in the “olympics” for linemen at the 2022 Florida Lineman Competition.

Fort Pierce Utilities Authority, along with the Florida Municipal Electric Association, will host the rodeo-style competition in Fort Pierce. This free, family-friendly event will take place on Saturday, February 26, and will focus on the skills, safety and teamwork of lineworkers in a series of timed events. Some of the challenging obstacles linemen will face during the competition include handling downed wires, changing out electrical transformers and rescuing an injured coworker.

Event attendees can peruse the grounds to watch individual competitions, visit informational booths and enjoy the children's area, complete with a bounce house, food trucks and more. The event kicks off with opening ceremonies at 8:00 am and the competition will continue until approximately 3 pm.

All events are held on the grounds outside the Havert L. Fenn Center, 2000 Virginia Avenue, Fort Pierce. Admission and parking are free.
