FPUAConnecting Fort Pierce Youth to Local Career Opportunities in the Utility Industry

The Fort Pierce Utilities Authority (FPUA) Utility Advisory Committee (UAC) is inviting local students and young adults to “Power Up Your Future” at the 2025 Youth Career Event on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the FPUA Energy Services Center, 1701 S 37th Street, Fort Pierce.

This free community event is designed to introduce young people to the wide range of career pathways available within FPUA, from entry-level positions to apprenticeships and internships. Attendees will meet directly with FPUA employees from multiple departments, explore hands-on exhibits, and learn about the skills, benefits, and opportunities available in their hometown’s utility industry.

“Our goal is to show our young people that they don’t have to leave Fort Pierce to find a rewarding, stable career,” said Pearl Davis-Liverpool, FPUA Board member and former member of the UAC. “Whether you’re a high school student, a college graduate, or a licensed professional, there’s a place for you at FPUA.”

The event builds on the success of last year’s inaugural career fair, which attracted more than 100 attendees and featured live coverage on WPBF News. This year’s expanded format will include more interactive activities, earlier outreach to local schools and youth organizations, and printed listings of current job openings.

Event Highlights:

  • Opportunities for high school graduates, college students, and licensed professionals
  • Direct access to FPUA employees and department representatives
  • Interactive exhibits showcasing real-world utility work
  • Information on entry-level jobs, apprenticeships, and internships
  • Giveaways and hands-on activities

The UAC, a citizen-led committee formed in 2021, works to strengthen communication between FPUA and the community it serves. Hosting events like the Youth Career Event helps achieve FPUA’s strategic goal of building a strong local workforce and inspiring the next generation of utility professionals.
