JEA Crews in Alabama to Aid in Hurricane Isaias Recovery

Community,

On Saturday morning, JEA electric and vegetation crews deployed to Alabama to provide mutual aid assistance in the aftermath of Hurricane Isaias.

Isaias came ashore on Oct. 9 as a Category 2 hurricane near Destin, Fla., leaving more than 670,000 households without power in the Panhandle region. Forty JEA electric crew members are assisting with power restoration in the cities of Dothan and Evergreen. JEA also sent 15 tree-trimming crew members to Demopolis, Ala., to assist in clearing fallen trees and debris from affected areas.

“When Northeast Florida is hit by major storms, our fellow utilities are always here to help us,” JEA Interim Managing Director and CEO Jody Brooks said. “When we get a request for assistance, JEA is always happy to do what we can to help our neighboring communities get back up and running.”
