KEYS Employees Wrap Up Public Power Week with United Way

Community,

Keys Energy Services (KEYS) brought its Public Power Week celebrations to a close by championing local community spirit through a successful partnership with the United Way’s Feed the Keys food drive.

Throughout the week, KEYS’ Service Building in Key West served as a collection site for non-perishable food items donated by generous customers and employees. To cap off the week, KEYS’ employees volunteered at the collection hub, assisting with collecting, sorting, and weighing the food brought in by the community-wide event to help restock local food pantries.

“Public Power Week highlights the unique value that community-owned, not-for-profit electric utilities bring to their service areas,” said Lynne Tejeda, General Manager & CEO. “For KEYS, wrapping up the week with hands-on support for the United Way underscored the utility's ongoing commitment to strengthening the Florida Keys community,” she continued.

KEYS’ Days of Giving program connects employees with nonprofit organizations throughout the Lower Florida Keys to provide hands-on support for community projects and events.
