Ocala Electric Utility Hosts Customer Appreciation Day During Public Power Week
Ocala Electric Utility (OEU) will host its annual Customer Appreciation Day on Friday, Oct. 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event will take place at Citizens’ Circle, 151 SE Osceola Ave., located behind City Hall.
Customer Appreciation Day is celebrated and held in conjunction with Public Power Week, which runs from Sunday, Oct. 5, through Saturday, Oct. 11, to celebrate community-owned electric utilities nationwide.
To show appreciation for its customers, OEU staff will prepare free meals, which will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Meals will be individually portioned for grab-and-go convenience.
This year’s event will feature a wide variety of activities for all ages. OEU customers will have the chance to win electric bill credits, and families can enjoy bucket truck rides, face painting, and caricature artists. Also included will be a live DJ and a bounce house for children to enjoy.
Attendees must have a City of Ocala municipal service account to qualify for prizes. Participants can spin the prize wheel to win utility vouchers with randomly assigned monetary values. There is a limit of one voucher per household, and vouchers must be redeemed with the customer service office within 30 days.
Public Power Week recognizes the benefits of community-owned electric utilities, including reliable service and reinvestment in the community. It is also a chance for utilities like OEU to connect with customers and show appreciation for their support.
