FPUA Utility Advisory Committee to Host 3rd Annual Youth Career Event September 2 Event will introduce local youth to career pathways in the utility industry

The citizen-led Fort Pierce Utilities Authority (FPUA) Utility Advisory Committee (UAC) will host its third annual Youth Career Event on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at 4515 Energy Lane in Fort Pierce.

The event will give local students and young adults an opportunity to meet FPUA employees and community partners while exploring career paths within the utility industry. Attendees will hear directly from utility professionals about their career journeys and learn how education, internships and on-the-job training helped prepare them for their current roles.

“Many young people are familiar with the utility services that FPUA provides, but few have the opportunity to see the people and careers behind those services,” said Rachel Tennant, Director of Public Affairs & Sustainability. “This event gives them a chance to meet our team, ask questions about the wide variety of careers at FPUA, and discover opportunities they may not have realized were available right here in their own community.”

Hands-on activities, interactive booths and conversations with utility professionals will introduce attendees to the variety of skills and occupations needed to provide essential community services.

New this year, scheduled activities include resume-building workshops hosted by Indian River State College at 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. and a group tour of the new Water Reclamation & Reuse Facility at 5:00pm.  FPUA crews will also feature interactive touch-a-truck activities with utility trucks on public display.

Event highlights include:

  *   Insight into education, internships and on-the-job training
  *   Resume-building workshops
  *   A group tour of the wastewater treatment facility

The citizen-led UAC hosts the Youth Career Event to strengthen connections between FPUA and the community while helping young people learn about local career opportunities.
