Public Information Office Named Government Team of the Year
The City of Ocala Public Information Office was recognized Tuesday night with the Pinnacle Gold Award for Government Team of the Year during the Florida Public Relations Association’s (FPRA) Golden Image Awards Gala.
The award recognizes a local or state government agency, department or office in Florida that demonstrates exceptional use of public relations, marketing and communications to fulfill its mission and better serve its constituents.
The City of Ocala Public Information Office oversees the city’s strategic communications, media relations, digital communications, marketing, photography, videography and public engagement efforts. The team works collaboratively with departments across the organization to provide residents, employees and community partners with timely, accurate and accessible information.
The Golden Image Awards represent the highest level of statewide recognition presented by FPRA and honor outstanding public relations programs throughout Florida.
The recognition was presented during FPRA’s Annual PR & Comms Summit. During the event, Public Information Officer Gregory Davis was sworn in as vice president of professional development on the FPRA State Executive Committee, and Public Relations Specialist Misti Barrett graduated from the LeadershipFPRA program.
The Florida Public Relations Association is a statewide professional organization dedicated to developing public relations practitioners, promoting ethical and effective communications, and advancing the public relations profession. FPRA provides its members with professional development, leadership, networking and accreditation opportunities through its statewide network of local chapters.
