FMEA Releases Annual Bill Comparison for 2018

In 2018, municipal electric utilities were the lowest in 12 of the 15 rate categories. Overall, out of fifteen ranked categories; the City of Mount Dora reported the lowest bills in five categories; while Florida Power & Light reported the lowest in three categories; the Cities of Tallahassee and Chattahoochee reported the lowest in two categories each and the City of Wauchula reported the lowest bills in one category.

For residential bills, out of three categories; the City of Chattahoochee reported the lowest bills in two categories and the City of Wauchula reported the lowest in one.

For commercial bills, out of eight ranked categories; Lakeland Electric, the Cities of Tallahassee and Mount Dora and Florida Power & Light all report the lowest bills in two categories each.

In the industrial sector, out of four ranked categories; the City of Mount Dora reported the lowest bills in all three categories and Florida Power & Light reported the lowest in one.

The FMEA Bill comparison provides a fair comparison of customer bills served by different utilities. The report includes utility rates, average franchise fees of 6 percent, and local payments in lieu of taxes.
