FPUA Celebrates Completion of Inaugural Organization-Wide Internship Program

Fort Pierce Utilities Authority recently completed its 2026 Summer Internship Program, marking the conclusion of FPUA’s first organization-wide internship cohort.

During the 12-week program, five interns worked alongside FPUA employees, contributed to active projects and gained firsthand experience in several of the professional fields that support a community-owned utility.

Jude Charles and Joseph Feliciano, Electric & Gas Engineering interns, helped design and survey potential locations for powerlines as part of efforts to strengthen the electric grid and create additional system redundancy.

Eden Glover, Finance and Accounting intern, assisted the Finance team as it developed the annual budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. Her work provided insight into balancing priorities across FPUA’s five utility services and supporting departments.

Jamari Tullis, Manatee Center Digital Media Generalist intern, and Joshua Cimino, FPUA Communications & Digital Storytelling intern, created social media content, documented events and designed graphics for FPUA and the Manatee Center.

“At FPUA, we believe in investing in future leaders, innovators and professionals,” said Javier Cisneros, P.E., FPUA Director of Utilities and CEO.

In addition to their departmental assignments, the interns participated in safety training, a community cleanup, a professional presentation workshop and a bucket truck demonstration with FPUA’s Electric Transmission & Distribution team.

The program concluded with an August 13 luncheon where each intern presented information about their department, completed projects and lessons from the summer.

FPUA developed the program to provide meaningful hands-on experience, mentorship and professional development while introducing participants to the range of career opportunities available in the utility industry. The program also helps FPUA build connections with potential future employees and strengthen the utility workforce pipeline.
