Leesburg Electric Will Lower BPCA Effective September 1st

Community,

With our energy supply partners at the Florida Municipal Power Agency working to stabilize fuel costs, the City of Leesburg is proud to announce that Leesburg Electric’s Bulk Power Cost Adjustment (BPCA) will be reduced by $5.00 per 1,000 kWh, effective September 1, 2025.

Currently the BPCA is $25.00 per $1,000 kWh, bringing the monthly cost for a typical residential electric customer who consumes 1,000 kWh to $132.94. By reducing the BPCA to $20.00 per 1,000 kWh, the monthly residential charge for the first 1,000 kWh will decrease to $127.94. As a comparison, the state’s major investor-owned utilities charge the following: FPL - $130.68; TECO - $163.81; and Duke Energy Florida - $159.39. With this adjustment, Leesburg Electric remains one of the most competitive rates in our region.

Leesburg City Manager Al Minner said, “What this BPCA reduction represents is the City Commission’s continued commitment to passing along savings to our customers and keeping our rates as low as possible.”

Moving into Fiscal Year 2025-26, which starts October 1st, it will be the Utility’s goal to maintain the BPCA at $20.00 per 1,000 for the next 13 months.
