As the Director, you will oversee the strategic planning, development, management, budgeting, and execution of initiatives in marketing, advertising, digital channels, brand management, creative services, and community relations. Your responsibilities include providing strategic direction for OUC’s brand and reputation, developing a comprehensive marketing strategy, managing creative direction, and optimizing digital platforms. You will elevate OUC’s role as a community leader through effective outreach, event sponsorships, stakeholder engagement, public relations, and strategic partnerships. Additionally, you will guide and mentor the team, ensure alignment with organizational objectives, and represent OUC at key community events and networking opportunities. We seek a leader with robust relationship-building skills, exceptional community outreach experience, and the ability to influence leadership and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, communications, digital media, business, or a related field; a Master’s in Business Administration is preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in community relations, marketing, communications, public relations, or digital media, including:
- 5+ years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Proven experience in designing and executing omni-channel branding, media, marketing, and creative strategies.
- Strong relationship-building skills, with a deep understanding of the local community and the ability to influence leadership and stakeholders.
- Preferred experience in the utility and/or energy-related industry
- Experience with web analytics tools, metrics and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
- Excellent coaching, mentoring, and team development skills
- Valid Driver’s License

Salary Range: $153,292 - $191,616 annually - commensurate with experience.

Job Purpose:
Directs a comprehensive strategic marketing and community engagement plan by engaging customers, employees and the community with OUC’s programs, products and services that increase awareness, satisfaction, enrollment and loyalty. Directs, plans, develops, manages, budgets, and executes initiatives involving strategic marketing, advertising, digital channels, brand management, creative services, and community and stakeholder relations.
Primary Functions:
- Provide strategic direction for OUC’s brand and reputation; develop an innovative and comprehensive strategic brand management program to continually strengthen the visibility and reputation of OUC;
- Develop and implement OUC’s marketing strategy; leverage research to increase awareness and adoption of services, products and programs through a fully integrated strategy that includes media planning and buying, marketing automation, and customer retention strategies (loyalty programs);
- Provide internal and external creative direction; oversee graphic and brand standards important to the OUC’s brand, including all logos, marketing and sales materials, digital channels, videos, presentations, community outreach, customer education materials, and internal employee communications;
- Oversee OUC’s marketing and communications internal and external digital platforms; improve usability, design and content for informational websites, email and marketing automation systems;
- Enhance OUC’s position as a community leader and strategic partner by engaging the community through neighborhood, customer and educational outreach, event and corporate sponsorships, stakeholder management, partnerships and programs while developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy to obtain widespread recognition of OUC for its community-focused programs and activities;
- Oversee stakeholder engagement and partner to enhance engagement with all levels of stakeholders, including customers, employees, consumer and community organizations and not-for- profit partners;
- Lead employee involvement and charitable giving in the community; create innovative ways to engage employees and serve the community including building relationships with various organizations, recruiting volunteers, developing programs and setting strategic goals;
- Oversee the organization, planning and execution of internal and external OUC events;
- Develop long-term strategic community partnerships; create and foster partnerships with consumer and community organizations that make a measurable impact in the community;
- Collaborate closely with leadership to continue to improve operations in a cost-effective manner; provide direction and input on the department’s vision to meet business challenges, while anticipating the community’s needs and continuously delivering on OUC’s marketing and community engagement strategy;
- Direct the development of analytics to report on the department’s performance and the alignment with KPIs. Leverage data, metrics, insights and reports to highlight areas of opportunity for growth and/or improvement;
- Create and deploy roadmaps for strategic storytelling, market reputation building and management, brand awareness and recognition.;
- Leverage industry, target audience and community research to identify, design and deploy public relations and community engagement strategies; Collaborate with cross-functional partners; support business planning, content strategy and development, digital strategy, customer experience and other departments to meet operational and strategic goals;
- Manage and lead a staff of direct and indirect reports to provide direction of day-to-day activities towards accomplishing the department’s strategic plan including, but not limited to, employee coaching, development, and performance evaluation;
- Develop and communicate strategies and goals for the business unit;
- Evaluate and align talent to current and future business needs; mitigate talent risks;
- Support and maintain effective business unit work groups and leadership team; foster a culture of respect and continuous learning;
- Develop, measure, and take action on performance metrics for teams and individuals within the business unit; communicate performance expectations, support staff professional goals, and brief all related issues, initiatives, and actions, risks or concerns with Leadership;
- Manage selection and promotion procedures including reviewing applicants and interviewing potential new employees to select candidates for open positions within the business unit;
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/ Certification/ Years of Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, communications, digital media, business or a related field from an accredited college or university;
- Master’s in Business Administration, preferred;
- Minimum of ten (10) years progressive experience in community relations or engagement, marketing, communications, public relations and/or digital media, to include:
- Minimum of five (5) years of managerial or supervisory experience;
- Experience designing and executing omni-channel branding, media, marketing and creative strategies.
- Experience with stakeholder relationship building and management;
- Experience with web analytics tools, metrics and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems;
- Utility and/or energy-related industry experience, preferred;
- Valid Driver’s License.
