General Line Foreman - OEU
This is a management position with an emphasis on departmental operations directly involved with overhead and underground electric utility. This position reports to the Electric Transmission and Distribution Supervisor. The General Foreman is to supervise the progress of all projects within the division. Must actively communicate with Foreman, Working Foreman, and Troublemen to ensure that the work meets quality expectations and deadlines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Directs and allocates daily activities and crew assignments for all overhead, underground, street and area lighting, and tree maintenance crews.
2. Assists in the development and planning of work schedules to effectively coordinate the use of equipment and personnel.
3. Reviews and verifies various reports, including but not limited to attendance records, safety and training, production, vehicle use, and maintenance.
4. Assists in the development and implementation of policies, practices, short and medium-range plans for the division.
5. Maintains positive working relationships with division personnel, other governmental agencies, customers, and the general public.
6. Communicates with other employees, agencies, and the general public politely and clearly in person, by radio, telephone, and written communications.
7. Availability during emergencies is required with exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
8. Supervises employees in the performance of work, following safety rules, and adhering to company policies and procedures. Coaches employees as necessary and recommends disciplinary action when needed.
9. Assists with recommendation and preparation of bid specifications.
10. Monitors the work of subcontractors on-site.
11. Possibility of out-of-town work (Mutual Aide).
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or a GED required. A minimum of seven years’ experience as a Class A Lineman in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead/underground electrical distribution and transmission systems, and related services, with four years in a supervisory role.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
The employee must, within of year of date of hire or promotion to this position, reside within 45 minutes of the assigned work facility.

Directly supervises 12 subordinate supervisor(s) who supervise(s) a total of 33 employee(s). Supervises 0 non-supervisory employee(s). Departments supervised by this position include N/A. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
