Safety Coordinator -- OUC

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented professional to support our Commission’s mission of preventing workplace incidents, promoting safe behavior, and ensuring regulatory compliance across all departments. This role plays a critical part in cultivating a safe working environment by delivering safety training, conducting thorough inspections and audits, and partnering with employees and management to identify and mitigate risks.

What You Will Do:
- Facilitate and support safety training programs with visual tools and hands-on demonstrations for compliance and risk prevention.
- Lead accident investigations and produce clear, comprehensive incident reports.
- Conduct field audits, job task evaluations, and annual facility inspections to identify safety gaps and recommend improvements.
- Participate in emergency preparedness activities, including training, drills, and incident response.
- Serve as a safety liaison between departments and incident command units during emergencies.
- Review and improve safety-related procedures, policies, and personal protective equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Organize and conduct department safety meetings and prepare debrief reports.
- Provide guidance to management and staff on achieving cost-effective, safe operations.
The ideal candidate will have:
- High School or GED (required)
- Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in a safety role in a military, public safety, utility, construction, manufacturing, or directly related industry (required). Advanced education in a related field may be substituted for experience requirements on a 1:1 basis.
- Associate’s Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Emergency Management, Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or directly related field from an accredited college or university (preferred).
- A strong understanding of OSHA regulations and other relevant federal, state, and local safety standards.
- Proven ability to identify safety risks and violations, analyze data, and produce actionable reports.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage diverse teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and enterprise safety tracking systems.
- Experience in developing and leading safety training sessions and emergency drills.
- Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR, etc.) are highly desirable.
- Valid Driver’s License

Salary Range: $37.30 - $46.63 per hour- commensurate with experience (estimated $77,584.00 - $96,990.40 annually)
